BIOGRAPHY

Francesco Bubba was born in Savona, Italy on July 28th, 1960.

Since his youth, he has had a passion for art and has been intensely active in his artistic development. In the beginning of his artistic career, in 1977, he started to sketch pavement drawings all over Italy: Rome, Florence, Naples, Venice, and Milan.

During the 80’s (in 1982/83) he also painted London and Paris subway trains as a Pop Artist.
He then devoted his time to artistic restoration of wooden statues , and specialized in the painting of landscapes and figurative. He continued during these years - until 2000 – to paint ancient furniture, then his passion for ceramics brought him to work in various pottery laboratories in Albisola – Italy, one of the world known centres of faience in Europe.

In 2003, Francesco opened his own laboratory and started his artist’s path through informal abstract expressionism, introducing ceramic sculptures on painted canvas. The purpose is the evolution of modern arts: he aims to give a form to abstraction and a shape to thought.

Francesco uses gestual art as a background for his forms, he gives insight into himself through his brushwork and use of colour and ceramic sculpture.
